ATLANTA -- The Georgia Automatic Merchandising Council will inaugurate an annual day of meetings with state legislators on Feb. 10 at the state capitol here. GAMC president Kimble Carter, Kimble's Food by Design (LaGrange, GA), expects the legislative event to become a GAMC standard for showcasing the vending industry and educating elected officials.
"Its success will be a testament to the vision of the GAMC board and members to ensure that our industry remains on the radar of our key decision-makers," Carter said.
That said, GAMC board members next month plan to inform legislators about the industry and educate them about vending's contributions to the state's economy. GAMC members also will provide samples of today's vendible products to more than 180 legislators and staff.
National Automatic Merchandising Association legislative director Sherree Edwards observed that "GAMC is committed to its plan to influence policies benefiting business in Georgia, which is why this event will be an important part of GAMC's legislative activities.
"Going forward, all of our efforts will involve identifying opportunities to build relationships and promote our message with elected officials," she added.
GAMC lobbyist Andrew Long pointed out that the council "is uniquely positioned to capture the attention of our legislators at the capitol because of the multifaceted nature of the industry.
"The businesses that comprise GAMC provide valuable revenue and human capital to our state's economy which legislators are committed to protecting," Long explained. "With the sustained vision of GAMC's leadership and dedication of its members, I am confident that we will keep pushing toward that goal."
GAMC is a state council of the National Automatic Merchandising Association.
