Frozen food machines on a roll in Japan

Frozen food vending machines have expanded rapidly in Japan over the past year, according to a report in The Mainichi.
- Sanden, an electrical and automotive equipment manufacturer, has shipped over 2,000 of its Dohiemon frozen food machines that accommodate products of varying sizes as of March.
- Fuji Electric introduced its "Frozen Station," and has shipped about 500 machines.
- Yamaya Communications Inc., which manufactures pollack roe, set up a vending machine selling its products in front of the ticket gates at the JR Hakata transportation station.
- Sanyo Co., a fishery in Fukuoka, introduced vending machines selling frozen deep-fried horse mackerel near ticket gates as well as a gyoza dumpling machine.
