Residents of the Frenchtown neighborhood in Tallahassee, Florida, will have access to fresh food at four vending machines provided by the Frenchtown Neighborhood Improvement Association thanks to a grant from the U.S. Agriculture Department's Healthy Food Financing initiative, according to a wtxl.com report.

The machines will be in areas designated as food deserts and will offer fresh vegetables, salads, sandwiches and beverages at a reduced price, payable by debit card.

The association is working with farmers aligned with the Red Hills Farmers Alliance and vendors that utilize the association's Kitchenshare communal kitchen rental program to provide food for the machines.

The first kiosk is expected to be available by mid-September.
