Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Five Star Breaktime Solutions has completed its acquisition of the vending and coffee operations of Jasper, Ind.-based Krodel Vending.
Five Star said the deal strengthens its presence in Southern Indiana and supports its broader growth strategy across the region, according to a report at the Chattanoogan.
The acquisition includes four vending routes serving more than 90 customer locations, encompassing over 300 machines, as well as two micro markets and 13 coffee accounts. Krodel's wholesale business will continue operating independently.
Krodel Vending traces its history back to 1910, when Carl Krodel founded the company as a candy wholesaler. The vending operation was added in 1958 and has remained family-owned for generations, most recently under Dan Smith. Five Star said the acquired accounts will be supported by its branches in Owensboro, Evansville, Jeffersonville and Columbus, Ind., with the routes integrated into existing operations to ensure continuity of service while expanding resources for customers.
