GREENVALE, NY -- Apple Industries announced that photobooths running its Smile 2.0 system are now linked for an Instagram customer option. Instagram compatibility allows customers to post images directly to the popular social media site from a Face Place photobooth for an additional fee, which can be adjusted by the operator.
Instagram, which has more than 300 million regular users, is one of the world's most popular photo sharing sites. It expands Apple's social media capabilities for its Face Place photobooths, which already work with Twitter and Facebook, as well as email.
"Yes, Instagram is an upsell that generates income for the operator," said Apple chief executive Allen Weisberg. "But this is also going to get you into an account. You tell a location that you can get their location name on Instagram along with Facebook, and that's a big plus for the location. The unit promotes the account when customers use it."
Instagram can help build impulse sales. It also provides a valuable social media presence for the location because of its customized framing around images, Weisberg explained. The added social media option holds particular appeal for photobooth customers eager to memorialize a visit to a popular nightspot, hotel or even a special event.
