GREENVALE, NY -- American citizen now have a chance to become a part of history when they use a Face Place photobooth. Apple Industries has entered the Presidential election fray with a new feature for its Face Place models. Photobooths enabled with the Election 2016 option offer patrons a choice of having their visages composited with their choice of major-party candidates for president in this year's race.
The customer can choose to be photographed in various poses with the virtual likeness of either Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton or Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump. Each photo is imprinted with a suitable border, and each photobooth transaction counts as a "vote" for the candidate in a continually updated poll.
A running tally is being kept for both Clinton and Trump, and the results will be released regularly through Face Place's website and social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. Apple said that it will present the final numbers just before the actual election as an indicator of the popular vote.
"We see this feature being most popular within the bar and tavern setting," said Apple marketing coordinator Joe DiGirolamo. A pilot run, conducted to test the waters, produced the most positive results from that sector. He reported that some locations with the feature doubled their photobooth income. "There is a competition aspect to it; people want to support their candidate," he said.
DiGirolamo explained that the software is loaded online; enabling the feature is up to the operator. Plans call for running the program at least through October and perhaps until Election Day.
