While several health benefits have been associated with coffee, a report in Clinical Nutrition indicates excessive consumption can increase chances of heart disease, according to a Yahoo News report.

Researchers studied the observable and genetic associations between blood cholesterol levels and self-reported coffee consumption of 362,671 UK Biobank participants and found that six or more cups per day can boost lipid in blood, which increases heart disease risk.

The participants were 37 to 73 years of age.
