Equity firm invests in Carolina Foods

Falfurrias Capital Partners, a Charlotte-based private equity firm, has invested in Carolina Foods LLC, a manufacturer of sweet baked goods including the company's own Duchess line of products and other bakery brands that are marketed to the vending industry and other retail channels, according to a press release.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"This partnership will give us the financial resources and management expertise to take Carolina Foods to another level," Carolina Foods CEO Paul Scarborough, said in the press release.

Operating out of multiple locations across Charlotte totaling 240,000 square feet, including a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Charlotte's South End neighborhood, Carolina Foods makes donuts, honey buns, pies, fritters and other sweet treats under the Duchess brand, and also does private-label manufacturing and co-packing for numerous snack brands.
