El Niño, a weather phenomenon that delivers dry and hot conditions to the eastern and central Pacific Ocean, is causing concerns about higher robusta coffee prices in Vietnam and Indonesia, according to a cnbc.com report.

Meanwhile, Brazil has also been impacted by drought conditions.

That means the cost of instant coffee and espressos, which are often made with robusta beans, could come under pressure amid supply worries and a stronger than usual demand for robusta due to higher costing arabica beans.

Robusta prices recently hit a 15-year high of $2,783 per ton at the end of May.

The premium of arabica beans over robusta fell to its lowest since 2019 due to rising demand for the less expensive bean.
