EDMONTON, AB, Canada -- Alberta's capital city is taking to the road with a vending machine to boost tourism. It invites visitors to tweet to win such prizes as hotel stays, gift cards and passes to attractions that they can use during their visits to Edmonton.
Edmonton was recently recognized by National Geographic as one of the best summer destinations in 2015 for its festivals and events, concerts, restaurants and boutiques.
"This is a great opportunity for us to reach visitors in neighboring cities to encourage them to make a trip to Edmonton this summer," said Edmonton Tourism Tourism vice-president Maggie Davison. "Our team has worked closely with all of our tourism businesses and they've shown us tremendous support by offering prizes to fill the vending machine."
The vending machine will make its first stop in Fort McMurray on June 27 and move on to the Saskatoon Jazz Festival on July 1.
