The Dubuque County Board of Health in Dubuque, Iowa, has approved a $28,500 budget to install two naloxone vending machines in the county, according to a Telegraph Herald report.
The vending machines will dispense the opioid overdose-reversal medication for free.
"Dubuque County has multiple ways you can get naloxone, but they come with barriers," Carissa Brown, public health project coordinator at Dubuque County Health Department, told the news outlet. "We have proposed to use the funding to support naloxone distribution through these machines or boxes."
