Dot Transportation, Inc, an affiliate of Dot Foods, Inc., has logged that its first-deployed Orange EV electric terminal truck has reached 30,000 hours of usage, according to a press release. DTI is the first to reach this milestone, demonstrating the viability of electric vehicles in demanding distribution environments, including those serving the vending industry.
DTI, North America's largest food industry redistributor, which handles vending products, has seen significant operational and environmental benefits since adopting electric trucks in 2018. The company reports the single truck has eliminated an estimated 45,000 gallons of diesel fuel and reduced CO₂ emissions by over 500 tons, while also lowering operating costs.
"We're proud to reach this incredible milestone with our electric terminal trucks," Kevin Buss, DTI director of fleet maintenance, said in the release. "These trucks have consistently supported our operations, and the 30,000-hour mark proves the durability and reliability of Orange EV's electric terminal trucks in our high-demand environments."
DTI utilizes strategically-paired charging stations to maintain high uptime, ensuring continuous operation across multiple shifts. The company plans to expand its electric fleet, adding four more Orange EV trucks in 2025.
