DOE amends test procedures for beverage vending machines

The U.S. Department of Energy has issued its final rule to amend test procedures for refrigerated canned and bottled beverage vending machines based on the latest version of the industry standard, while maintaining certain provisions in the current DOE test procedure.

The department also, according to the final rule, provided setup instructions for non-beverage shelves, updated the lowest application product temperature definition and test instructions and detailed setup instructions for refrigeration leak mitigation controls.

The effective date of this rule is June 5, 2023.

The DOE amended several parts of the rule based on the feedback from the National Automatic Merchandising Association, according to the NAMA weekly legislative wrap up.

The revised test procedures will become mandatory for equipment testing Oct. 31, 2023.
