CONCORD, NC -- DNP Imagingcomm America Corp. has unveiled its new flagship DS620A dye-sublimation photo printer for the event photography and photo retail markets. Built for integration with traditional photobooth vending machines, if desired, it can print 2" x 6" (2 or 4 up) photo strips and prints in a range of sizes, including 4x6, 5x7, 6x8 and square 5x5 and 6x6 prints, in an improved gloss or matte finish.

The latest addition to DNP-IAM's popular DS Series printers, the DS620A is said to be the world's most compact professional-grade photo printer, able to deliver as many as 400 prints per hour. Featuring an improved thermal print head, the DS620A is backed by a three-year advanced exchange warranty from DNP-IAM at time of purchase.

"With its wide range of print size options, quick output and innovative print technology, the DS620A is a revenue-generating asset for pro photographers printing on site as well as retail store operators with in-store photo printing kiosks," said DNP-IAM president Katsuyuki Oshima.

At 10.8" wide x 14.4" deep x 6.7" high, the DS620A is said to be 14% lighter than its predecessor. The small footprint allows for easy transportation, and for stacking multiple printers for the high-output functionality sought by photographers who require mobility, speed and volume. The printer's design also embodies improved aesthetics, with a new white color scheme and rounded corners.

According to the manufacturer, the DS620A provides a 14% increase in image throughput per hour for some of the fastest print speeds available; standard 4x4 images are produced in less than nine seconds, while 5x7s are printed in about 15 seconds. The printed media will also feature a new DNP watermark on the back of each print.

Energy consumption and media waste have been minimized in the DS620A. A new standby mode lowers costs and increases profitability by making the most efficient use of energy (<0.5W.).The printer also provides advanced status information from its driver, enabling users at any time to check remaining media, media format, printer status, color control data, firmware version and serial number, as well as the printer life counter.

The DS620A is compatible with DNP's vast range of software products, including Mobile Party Print for event photography applications, Tomo v6.1 kiosk software, new NexLab 6 order management software and the new Hot Folder Print Utility software for enhanced print workflows in-studio and at-event. DS620A printer drivers are available for Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

It has become a globally recognized photo imaging leader, and its innovation in dye-sublimation printers and media has lead to longstanding relationships with some of the largest photobooth manufacturers around the world.
