The Dallas Stars Foundation, in partnership with the Dallas Education Foundation, has unveiled a book vending machine at Charles Rice Learning Center, according to a report by the Dallas ISD News Hub.
The initiative aims to promote literacy among students by providing free books to build personal libraries at home.
"Reading opens the doors to so many opportunities for our students," Kellie Paris, Charles Rice principal, told the news outlet. "We want them to have books to take home, not just to have at school, but to develop a love of reading."
Members of the Dallas Stars organization joined the school community to celebrate the unveiling. Students were given special tokens to "purchase" books from the vending machine, which offers a variety of titles including sports novels and comic books. The event also included activities like ball hockey with Stars players and the distribution of Dallas Stars T-shirts.
