Cupcake vending machine keeps bakery open after hours

The Taste of Gold Cakery in Aiken, South Carolina, has introduced a refrigerated outdoor vending machine that allows customers to purchase gourmet cupcakes and cake slices around the clock, extending access beyond the bakery's regular business hours.

Located outside the company's Southside shop, the machine accepts credit cards, debit cards and mobile payments and is designed to dispense delicate baked goods without damaging them, according to an Aiken Standard report.

Owners Christine Monroe and her mother Marie Goldston said the vending machine was added to meet growing customer demand while accommodating the limited hours they can spend at the business because both have full-time jobs. The refrigerated unit helps preserve product quality, while an elevator-style dispensing system protects decorated cupcakes during delivery.

The bakery offers a variety of specialty cupcake flavors, including Nana Pudding, Pistachio Mousse, Dubai Chocolate and Classic Red Velvet, along with cake slices, custom cakes and other desserts. Monroe said the goal is to provide customers with high-quality treats whenever they want them, while making the bakery's products more accessible.
