A cryptocurrency technology enthusiast has created a vending machine that allows people to pay for products using the Bitcoin Lightning Network, a payment protocol that can be layered on top of a blockchain-based cryptocurrency, according to a report in CVBJ.biz, a technology and entertainment webiste.
The user selects the product, scans a QR code from a Lightning-compatible wallet, then pays to obtain a PIN number which they enter to verify the order. The machine then dispenses the product.
The developer, Ben Arc, bought the machine from Alibaba for a few dollars and bought the electronic components elsewhere for a total investment of around $250.
