Farms in Colombia are struggling with labor shortages this year as low coffee prices have not provided funds to hire coffee pickers and the job has become riskier due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to an msn.com report.
The Santa Isabel province requires around 32,000 coffee pickers to collect its harvest which lasts through December.
The province has a deficit of 7,000 pickers, according to Colombia's National Federation of Coffee Growers.
One farmer said his farm has only been able to get 200 workers this year compared to the 500 he needs.
