Pharmacies will be permitted to use machines to dispense prescription medications under a bill proposed in the state legislature, according to a coloradopolitics.com report. The machines would be installed in pharmacies, hospitals and clinics and be available outside of regular pharmacy hours.
The bill, H.B., 1195, sponsored by Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet, D-Commerce City, has been sent to the Senate after the House approved it 58-4 on Friday.
Patients would be required to provide their prescription and interact with a pharmacist via a video call on the machine. The machine would stock the medications.
Such machines are permitted in Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas, according to MedifriendRx, a health care technology provider.
