PIKEVILLE, KY -- The University of Pikeville here will be offering scholarships to videogame players next fall. The private liberal arts college will award 20 scholarships for outstanding players of the online multiplayer game League of Legends.
According to school officials, gamers who accept the grants will be subject to the same academic requirements as athletes on scholarship, including maintaining a specified GPA. At present time, one other school, Robert Morris University in Chicago, offers videogame scholarships.
