Drinking more coffee could prevent liver related deaths, according to a report in Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, according to a Fox News report.
Researchers in Australia examined data from earlier studies on coffee and liver disease and discovered that drinking more than two cups of coffee daily could help prevent deaths related to liver disease.
Increasing coffee consumption to more than two cups per day can avert hundreds of thousands of liver related deaths per year if clinical trials confirm the impact of coffee on liver connected deaths, said Sarah Gardner, who works in the liver transplant unit at The Austin Hospital in Australia.
Dr. Douglas Dieterich, a hepatologist at the Mount Sinai Divisoin of Liver Medicine, said coffee "clearly" helps the liver, and that recommends coffee to some of his patients.
