SAN FRANCISCO -- Coca-Cola Co. is introducing an app for its cold drink vending machines placed at U.S. universities, and all across Australia and New Zealand. Coca-Cola executives revealed the new app at Mobilebeat 2017 last month in San Francisco.

The app will reportedly allow a vending patron to remotely buy multiple drinks ahead of time and have them ready at the machine. It also will personalize the vending experience in other ways, which the beverage giant did not specify.

"As humans, we build emotional connections to machines and with products," Greg Chambers, Coca-Cola's global director of digital innovation said during his Mobilebeat presentation. "We will do this in new and exciting ways. You should enjoy the process of acquiring a Coke as much as you enjoy consuming a Coke."
