The Coca-Cola Co. has advised investors about production and export issues for low-calorie beverages and Diet Coke caused by the coronavirus, according to a USA Today report. This past Monday, the company said its supply chain for certain ingredients, including an artificial sweetener, was disrupted by the outbreak.
While the company did not identify the affected ingredients, it stated in its most recent annual report that Sulacrose is a Diet Coke ingredient sourced from China and the U.S.
The company has not experienced delays in the short-term, a spokesperson said, but was uncertain about the long term.
The company reported it is carefully following all government guidelines and taking precautionary steps to do what it can to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, according to a press release. The company is also donating to organizations that are working to support patients and contain the virus.
The company has implemented precautionary measures to protect employees in China, which includes providing face masks and hand sanitizers; installing temperature screening in offices and manufacturing facilities; and setting up health monitoring mechanisms across the Coca-Cola system in China.
