Costa Coffee, a U.K.-based coffee brand the Coca-Cola Co. acquired in 2018, will be introduced to the U.S. this year, including espresso and drip coffee through autonomous coffee technology, according to a press release.
Options to be available in the U.S. will include:
- Costa Smart Café offers an autonomous piece of equipment that provides barista-quality coffee at the touch of a button — essentially an unmanned coffee shop in a box. The beans are ground inside the machine while fresh milk is frothed by the machine. The unit is designed to dispense over 100 drinks before any human assistance is needed.
- Costa Proud to Serve includes a countertop format which can be set up as self-serve for consumers or back-of-house for the crew to prepare beverages as ordered. Equipment options include high-capacity hot brewers, cold brewers, airports and single-serve pod brewers.
