Coca-Cola European bottler offers to buy Australian bottler

Coca-Cola Co.'s European bottler, KO.N, has offered A$9.28 billion ($6.6 billion) for Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd., an Australian bottler, according to a foxbusiness.com report.

The acquisition, should it occur, would mark the largest takeover of an Australian company this year.

Coca-Cola Amatil's shares rose 15% to A$12.31 ($8.75) this morning.

Coca-Cola Amatil announced in June that its machines would be accepting bitcoin payments.
