Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc., one of the nation's largest Coca-Cola bottlers, plans to invest $5 million to repurpose its Birmingham, Alabama production facility as additional warehouse and loading space to optimize its distribution system and better serve customers, according to a Birmingham Times report.
Production will move to facilities in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
The move will be completed by year's end and will impact 65 employees, who will be considered for other company opportunities throughout the Southeast.
The company employees about 850 people in Birmingham, 200 more than it employed in 2014.
