Consumers in Shanghai, China will soon be buying ready-to-eat meals with New Zealand lamb and beef from vending machines, according to an rnz.co.nz report.
Silver Fern Farms, Beef + Lamb NZ and Alliance, red meat exporters, are testing the machines.
Two Pure Box vending machines will be located in Shanghai business districts, said Michael Wan, a Beef + Lamb NZ spokeperson.
Customers will choose from six meals developed by Shanghai chef Jamie Pea. The meals mix Chinese ingredients with Western food trends.
The machines are among B+L NZ's initiatives to raise Chinese consumer demand.
