Pace Harvey Bus Terminal in Harvey, Illinois, will soon provide free doses of Narcan through a Narcan vending machine, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
The town's Family Guidance Center's mobile unit will periodically check the vending machine's inventory and ensure it remains fully stocked. The mobile unit has already passed out more than 5,000 Narcan kits within its first year, according to the news outlet. The vending machine will provide more access to the potentially life-saving drug.
"The opioid overdose epidemic is ravishing our communities. The data from the south suburbs is absolutely alarming," Ron Vlasaty, Family Guidance Center's COO, told the news outlet. "FGC is proud to partner with Pace to offer Narcan, which is a life-saving overdose reversal resource in the effort to address this crisis.
