Kadeya, a Chicago based startup, has developed a vending machine that allows a consumer to purchase a bottle of water then return the bottle and have it automatically sanitized for reuse, according to an msn.com report.

Manuela Zoninsein, founder and CEO, described the concept as combining a bottling plant with a dishwasher with a soda fountain.

The returned bottles are refilled and sealed with a sterile, tamper-proof cap, after which a UV light further sterilizes the bottle, according to the company's website.

The concept has been tested successfully at an Indianapolis, Indiana construction site. The bottles have been consistently returned to the machine since its installation.

Kadeya has been working with an unnamed beverage manufacturer to test different containers and plans to provide machines at more locations.
