Carrefour opens unattended store with vending machines in Belgium

Carrefour Group, a Paris, France-based global retailer, has introduced one of its unattended grocery stores in Zaventem, Belgium, according to a report in The Star. The store, named BuyBye and under 200 square feet in size, features refrigerated vending machines offering bread, packaged ham, snacks, ready-made salads and sandwiches.

The AI-enabled store, open seven days a week, also includes a scale integrated to the system for weighing apples.

The customer opens the door using their cell phone.

The company has introduced other unattended stores.
