Candy sales have jumped 3.8% during the coronavirus pandemic, with chocolate and premium chocolate outpacing the category with 5.5% and 12.5% gains respectively, according to the National Confectioners Association.
The grocery channel has been the top driver for candy sales as consumer behaviors continue to evolve during the pandemic. Candy sales are up 16.6% in the supermarket channel, with chocolate up 17.9%, and premium chocolate up 21.4%, while non-chocolate is up 13.5%.
The data is based on NCA's analysis of sales performance from March 15, 2020 to Aug. 9, 2020.
