Veteran game developer Joshua Tsui has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a documentary called "Insert Coin: Inside Midway's '90s Revolution." It will chronicle the Golden Age of Midway Games in the early 1990s, when the now-defunct videogame giant produce such hits as Narc, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam and Cruis'n USA.
To date, the crowd-funding effort has raised nearly $50,000.
The film will detail the creation of arcade videogames "in the back of a pinball factory," as well as the personalities involved and corporate environment. Footage reportedly has already been shot, including interviews with design legends George Petro, Eugene Jarvis and Mark Turmell. See video:
