California startup Renetec develops touchless vending technology kit

August 14, 2020

Renetec, a Sunnyvale, California based provider of smart display modules, has developed a retrofit kit for that will allow customers to make touchless purchases from vending machines using their smartphones, according to the company website.

The customer first scans the QR code from a small paper like screen behind the glass using their smartphone, according to a video on the company website. They then follow the link to an interface to view the machine's products. The customer then selects a product and pays from the phone or on the machine and activates the vend.

The software, which does not reequire the user to install an app, provides telemetry, prekitting information, real time inventory information, machine health status and a service schedule.
