California school offers free breakfast from vending machine

Students at Southwest High School in El Centro, California can get a free breakfast from 7 to 8 a.m. on weekdays and from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. on Saturdays at a vending machine in the gym, according to a report in the Imperial Valley Press.

Students can get a breakfast bag with an entrée, fresh fruit, juice, milk and utensils just by typing in their student ID number and birth date.

The school wanted to make breakfast more accessible to students dropped off on the west side of the campus so they don't have to walk across campus.
