California has passed a bill to eliminate single-use plastics and require all packaging in California to be compostable or recyclable by 2032, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association weekly legislative wrap up.
The bill, SB-54, establishes a producer responsibility organization to operate a recycling program for single-use packages including primary, secondary and tertiary packages, including plastic single-use foodservice ware, but not plastic bottles.
