Broncos Super Bowl Kicker Is Son Of Vistars Susan McManus

Vistar director of national accounts Susan McManus is a familiar face in the vending industry, but did you know that her son is Brandon McManus? Yes, that Brandon McManus, placekicker for Super Bowl 50 champs the Denver Broncos.

Only 24 years old, and in his second year with the NFL, McManus made three field goals and scored an extra point in the Broncos' 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, earning a Super Bowl ring.

"When he was little, he told me he wanted to sell candy just like me," McManus reminisced. "I am glad his career choice changed over the years because now he is a Super Bowl champion."

McManus played college football at Temple University and was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He has also been a member of the New York Giants.

The young NFL kicker also cofounded the Anti Bully Squad and has visited schools to talk about bullying. Last summer he held a kickball tournament and raised money for the squad and cancer charity Kisses for Kyle.

Susan McManus has been with Vistar for 29 years. She is a past president of the Tri-State Merchandising Council, has been active in the organization for many years and currently sits on the board.

Brandon grew up in the industry through his mother's job and attended some of Vistar Mid-Atlantic trade shows and a Vendors Purchasing Council (now Unified Strategies Group) meeting in Florida with her.

"On one occasion, the Proctor & Gamble rep got food poisoning," McManus recalled. "Brandon manned the booth, and he was only 11 years old. He took orders and was rewarded with a Dick's Sporting Goods gift card for his hard work."

Another fun fact that Susan McManus told VT: Brandon's favorite candy bar is Hershey's Fastbreak.

"I am very pleased that all his hard work and determination has paid off. He has turned out to be a fine young man and I couldn't be prouder," she said.
