Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis in Tennessee debuted four new "Heroes of Literacy" book vending machines, according to an Action News 5 report.
The vending machines are reward-based so that children can use earned gold tokens to get a free book from each vending machine.
The machines are located at three schools — Belle Forest Community School, Lowrance Elementary and Hickory Hill Elementary — and one Laundry Supercenter in Memphis. The vending machines are the result of a collaboration between Heal the Hood and Shelby County Commissioner Erika Sugarmon, who provided funding.
