McLaughlin Strickland Elementary School in Carrollton, Texas has installed a book vending machine, thanks to a donation from The Civic League, according to a Carrollton Leader report. The addition to the school aims to foster a love of reading among students and reward positive behavior.
Students earn tokens for displaying kindness and good deeds, which they can redeem for books from the machine. The machine offers a diverse selection of books in both English and Spanish, catering to students of all backgrounds.
Principal Beth Chamberlin expressed enthusiasm about the positive impact the machine has already had on student behavior and engagement.
"This is giving them an opportunity to get those books, just through a technological way," Chamberlin told the news outlet.
