DENVER -- The Colorado Department of Transportation launched last month an innovative method of reminding users of marijuana not to smoke and drive. It installed a realistic coin-op game at seven marijuana dispensaries across the state.
The CODOT's videogame, titled End Game, features a realistic looking marquee and side graphics in a classic cabinet. The catch: when patrons step up to play the faux racing game, it displays a public service announcement about dangers of smoking and driving.
The department has estimated that 20% of motorists who use marijuana are not aware that driving while high can be grounds for a DUI, while 50% admitted to driving after partaking in the state's recently legalized drug.
