VANCOUVER -- Kaneh Bosm Bio Technology Inc. said it has leased its first two BioCanna marijuana vending machines to Vancouver-based MedSmart Dispensary Inc. MedSmart will reportedly pay a deposit of $1,000 (CAD) per machine for a minimum of 12 months, and it will pay Kaneh Bosm a $2.50 fee (CAD) per transaction.

Kaneh Bosm, also based in Vancouver, describes its BioCanna automated dispensing machine, or ADM, as a hybrid between a bank ATM and an intelligent retail kiosk. It's climate controlled and meets age-verification and patient eligibility requirements.

"The BioCanna ADM is similar to the Best Buy kiosks that you see in airports," explained Kaneh Bosm president and director Michael Martinz. "They have back-end functionality that provides oversight to the machine operator as well as regulators."

The machine is designed and manufactured in Europe, where more than 2,000 are reportedly in operation in pharmaceutical markets. The BioCanna ATM is retro-fitted for the marijuana market.

Kaneh Bosm, focused on securing its place in supplying cannabis in the growing sector, said it chose Vancouver to run its pilot machine because it is already a mature commercial marijuana market and is home to about 80 medical marijuana dispensaries.
