William Berna, a route supervisor and customer service manager of Canteen of Coastal California, has been selected as the winner of a scholarship for Michigan State University's Supervisory Management Certificate program, according to the NAMA Foundation.
Berna began his career in the industry in Coastal California's warehouse in 2006, with a rise through the organization, including positions with increased responsibilities.
Funded by the NAMA Foundation, the award has been developed to recognize a leader committed to the industry and continued professional development. This 12-week course, with a value of $3,400, is in partnership with Michigan State University's Eli Broad School of Business.
"We are thrilled that William Berna has been awarded the NAMA Foundation Scholarship. He represents the qualities we seek to recognize, most importantly, an already-established track record of success," Terri Bruce, director of the NAMA Foundation, said in the press release. "We also thank our team of industry leaders including Jeff Smith, Jim Carbone and Mike Knowlton who served on the selection committee."
