BayTek, Flappy Bird, coin-op gamePULASKI, WI -- One of the most recognizable games on mobile phones is now available as a skill-based amusement merchandiser. Bay Tek Games describes its Flappy Bird Merchandiser as "perfect for vestibules, street locations and gamerooms alike," making the new game flexible for any business model.

The Flappy Bird Merchandiser, first shown as a prototype in March at Amusement Expo in Las Vegas, officially ships this month. The coin-operated device, which has one prize level, is designed to award and vend inexpensive prizes.

Players win prizes for achieving set scores. Gameplay is similar to the mobile app, only much bigger, since Bay Tek's version runs the familiar videogame on a 32" monitor. Players press a large red button to maneuver a bird through openings in pipes; they win a prize after passing through enough pipes, or end the game when they hit a pipe or land on the ground.

The game further leverages Flappy Bird notoriety with licensed cabinet graphics. The unit has a 38" footprint and stands 99" high with a marquee, or 79" high without it. A well-lit interior enhances the game's appearance.

Mark Lenske, Bay Tek's Midwest account manager, predicts that Flappy Bird Merchandiser will create strong revenues for operators and attract great interest among players. "Owners will be thrilled with revenues, and players will recognize the licensed artwork and be drawn to the bright 32" monitor, making this a must-have piece for any location," he said.

The original Flappy Bird app was released for iOS and Android mobile devices in 2013. Bay Tek acquired the Flappy Bird license last year to create arcade games based on the mobile property, and released a ticket-redemption adaptation then. | SEE STORY
