Two ticket vending machines (TVMs) installed at Chattogram railway station in Bangladesh remain unused for 20 days, as their launch has been stalled by technical issues and security concerns, according to a TBS News report.
Bangladesh Railway installed 15 TVMs across various stations last month; however, glitches and security issues delayed this launch, potentially compromising the TVM initiative altogether. Concerns about the vending machines include confidential bank information being displayed on TVM screens as well as the lack of a cash payment option.
Railway officials have admitted that the concerns arose after installing the TVMs without proper testing. "We tested the machines after installation, but they are currently inoperative on higher authorities' orders," Masud Sarwar, Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station manager told the news outlet.
