LAS VEGAS -- AVT Inc. said it has introduced its Endcap Automated Retailing System at the International Consumer Electronics Show here. It enables self-service purchases of such high-end retail products as tablets, videogames and other electronics that are typically kept behind locked glass panels. Consumers can explore product features on a touchscreen and then purchase them without the need for employee assistance.
The Endcap machine uses technology described in AVT's newly granted patent. The multimedia patent for vending systems covers technology that allows users to view product information and select merchandise via an interactive touchscreen. It also covers the delivery of customized advertising messages through the touchscreen, based upon the customer's item selections.
AVT said it is marketing the machine to electronic device manufacturers as a retailing solution for chain and big box stores.
Its partner, Opticwash, is also exhibiting its self-service kiosk that cleans and sanitizes eyewear and jewelry at CES.
