KEARYNEYSVILLE, WV -- Automated Merchandising Systems Inc. president and industry pioneer Sharon Shull has retired after 20 years with the company.

Shull will remain a shareholder at AMS and will continue to be an ambassador for the company and attend industry functions.

Shull began her career at Dixie-Narco in 1970 under the tutelage of Bill Ural, where she became office manager and later the director of sales for the vending machine manager's Eastern division. Later, as vice-president of sales for the Eastern division and inside sales manager, Shull was instrumental in the success of Royal Vendors, founded by Roy Steeley in 1987.

In 1997, along with Steeley, she helped form Automated Merchandising Systems, Inc., where she began her career as sales director and later became president, building a platform for AMS to become one of the most recognized brands in the vending industry.

"We wish Sharon and her husband Lewis all the best and thank her for everything she has done in her time here. She will be dearly missed by her entire AMS family," the company said in a statement. "Although we are sad to see her go, we are grateful to have worked alongside her for so many years and for the impact that she has had amongst our staff and families, as well as throughout the vending industry over the years."
