Australian medical technology company Atomo Diagnostics has received a $230,000 order from Thorne Harbour Health to supply its HIV Self Test kits, according to a Trading View report. This order will support the national expansion of the Australian federal government's CONNECT program, which distributes free HIV self-test kits through vending machines in South Australia and Victoria.
The CONNECT program, a pilot initiative funded under the May 2024 budget to promote self-testing for HIV, aims to utilize at-home testing to address public health effectively. Atomo Diagnostics anticipates securing further procurement orders for its kits, leveraging a significant portion of the government's $43.9 million commitment to HIV prevention.
Atomo's HIV Self Test kit is the only ARTG-approved single-use blood-based rapid diagnostic test of its kind in Australia. The company also announced the registration and upcoming launch of its HIV Self Test kit in New Zealand through Chemist Warehouse pharmacies.
