Steve Bristow, a legendary game designer and one of Atari's first employees, has reportedly passed away. He was 65.
News of Bristow's death was posted by Atari Inc. coauthor Marty Goldberg at the book's website.
Bristow began his career as an intern at Computer Space before moving on to the newly formed Atari. At Atari he was vice-president of engineering, and led coin engineering for the majority of his tenure there. He and Atari founder Nolan Bushnell created Breakout. Bristow is also credited with multiplayer versions of Pong and such popular games as Tank and Indy 800.
He left the company in 1984 to pursue a career in electrical engineering.
