Asahi Soft Drinks vending machine to absorb CO2

Asahi Soft Drinks in Japan is developing a vending machine that will absorb carbon dioxide from the air, according to an NHK World Japan report.

The machine will make use of a material that contains calcium to capture carbon dioxide from within a radius of up to one meter. Each machine will be able to soak up as much CO2 in one year as 20 cedar trees.

The company plans to install the machine on a test basis in June.
