As office employees begin returning to work, coffee service equipment manufacturers are introducing technology designed for the COVID-19 era, according to a Reuters report.

Keurig Dr Pepper, Lavazza and Nestle have all introduced new equipment.

Nestle has added a function to its coffeemakers that lets users make a selection by hovering a finger over the menu and has provided the units since June. Lavazza lauched a model this month that works with a mobile app to dispense cappuccinos and lattes without the user having to touch the machine.

Keurig has signed agreements with companies that have classified K-cup brewers and pods as essential work items and pay for the deliveries to remote staffers, Phil Drapeau, general manager for the company's away from home business, told the news outlet.

GoodFirms, a Washington, D.C.-based research firm, this month reported an international survey of 168 businesses showed nearly a third of employees already returned to work and nearly 60% wished to do so, although more than half were still concerned about their safety.
