Boxx, an Arizona tech startup, has developed a contactless alcohol vending machine to allow customers to purchase and dispense their own beverages with the touch of a button, according to a press release.
The machine uses an AI platform to ensure the customer is 21 years of age through live validation with AI-based facial matching. The process takes less than 15 seconds, and once their age is validated, the customer can begin shopping the inventory.
Boxx was founded by retired Oakland Raiders player Lamarr Houston and Lauren Smee. The company has been selected as a Techstars Detroit powered by JP Morgan 2022 portfolio company.
The company is preparing for a launch in Arizona, including a partnership with a telecast event and placement with a nationwide family entertainment chain.
